1.Malaysia Mountain Trail Festival

The North Face® Malaysia Mountain Trail Festival, presented by Jabatan Perhutanan Negeri Perak and MMTF Consultant. The North Face® Malaysia Mountain Trail Festival 2023 (V6.0) was held between 2 – 5 November 2023 at Esplanade, Taiping, Perak, West Malaysia. The North Face® Malaysia Mountain Trail Festival 2023 will see runners competing in various categories which is Vertical KM (VK), 13KM Freshmen Challenge, 25KM Ball-Breaker Challenge, 50KM Ultra Challenge and 100KM Ultra-Trail® Challenge.

Participants will be taken through the pristine jungle trails which for the VK, 50KM and 100KM categories would include an adventure into the Virgin Jungle Reserves in Taiping, Perak. Participants will be tested with multiple elevation gains of 1000m for the VK, 350m for the 13KM, 1360m for the 25KM, 2960m for the 50KM and 5330m for the 100KM. The race will give every participant a chance of a lifetime to experience diverse trails around Taiping Lake Gardens and the iconic Maxwell Hill.

The Vertical Kilometre (VK) is the only VK race of its kind in Malaysia. The VK Challenge is a time trial challenge that will take runners up to 1000m above sea level in just over 5KM. The 13KM race is the “Freshman Run” which has well-mixed terrains that we trust best fits the beginners. The 25KM race has undulated uphill and downhill, which seems endless and best fits the synonym “BALL BREAKER” made famous by the hashing community around the world. Besides, The North Face® Malaysia Mountain Trail Festival will have 2 versions of Ultra Challenges, namely the 50KM ULTRA CHALLENGE and the 100KM ULTRA-TRAIL® CHALLENGE.

 

2.Perak Bike Week 2023

About 40 motorcyclists participated in the Perak Bike Week 2023 which was held in conjunction with the 2024 New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Silveritage Village Outlet.  Exco Tourism, Industry, Investment & Corridor Development of Perak, Loh Sze Yee said, previously, the Perak Bike Week event had been organized in 2017, but it was not continued due to the Covid-19 pandemic. According to him, the state government was trying to revive this program so that it becomes one of the events in the Perak Visit Year (TMP) 2024 calendar and it will continue in the future. He said, one of the reasons why the Perak Bike Week is organized is to attract motorcyclists from other states to visit and view the beauty of this state for themselves. This program is also a good initiative that brings together the motorcyclists, but as the goal of attracting, publicizing, and enjoying the experience of being in tourist location in Perak.

 

3.Perak Agrofest 2023

More than 100,000 people visited the Perak Agrofest 2023 which was held for 3 days from 29 September to 1 October 2023. Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad said stated that Perak Agrofest had targeted a total attendance of 60,000 people throughout the three-day event. However, the event involved the participation of 150 entrepreneurs from various sectors, including food, agricultural inputs, and agro-farming entrepreneurs. Perak Agrofest 2023 also attracted over 100,000 visitors, exceeding the original expectation of 60,000. The overall sales target for this event is RM1.5 million. He added that the last time the Perak State Farmers, Breeders and Fishermen Day was held here was in 2013. After 10 years, the event, now known as Perak Agrofest, was organised here again to boost the agro-farming sector in Perak.

With the theme “Sustainable Prosperity for Perak Agriculture,” Perak Agrofest 2023 is a continuation of the state government’s efforts to strengthen food security. Through this program, a strategic platform has been created for farmers, breeders, and fishermen to obtain the latest information and exposure in their respective fields. Perak Agrofest 2023 promises a wide array of exhibitions and captivating activities. Visitors will have the chance to witness a variety of displays featuring crop yields, livestock, and the latest agricultural technologies at the provided sales booths. Furthermore, sales activities, farming demonstrations, and food and livestock exhibits are sure to capture visitors’ attention.

 

4.Perak International Convention on Creative Industry (PICCI) Program

On 8 and 9 July 2023, the Perak International Convention on Creative Industry (PICCI) Program which was held at Dewan Seri Iskandar, Universiti Teknologi MARA Perak Branch successfully brought together the industrial and academic person in the creative field under the organization of UiTM Perak Branch with the initiative University-Industry Center (UiC) UiTM Perak Branch. The objective of this program is to gather local and international talented person from various sub-fields, among them animation, multimedia, illustration, fashion, and craft. This program was attracting 3,000 visitors consisting of IPTA students and the public and it has the potential to be used as one of the annual programs due to its ability to attract tourists from within and outside the country.

Meanwhile, YB Encik Khairudin Bin Abu Hanipah said that in line with the intention of setting a significant target to make our country’s creative industry as a major contributor to Domestic Output, the state government is very committed to celebrating and recognizing creative industries that can contribute to the development of state and strive to commercialize the State of Perak as a creative and innovative state. The State of Perak is also targeting the entry of more than eight million of domestic tourists to the state in conjunction with the Year of Visting the State of Perak 2024, therefore the Perak International Convention on Creative Industry (PICCI) is expected to not only become an annual tourism event for the State of Perak but also stimulate income through tourism and contribute to the preservation and ecological conservation of the environment in line with Perak State tourism concept 2024.

 

5.The Sustainability International Art Exhibition

The Sustainability International Art Exhibition organized by the Institute of Malay Civilization (IPM) of Universiti Penidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) here together with the Asian International Art Stream (AiAS) proves the university’s commitment in the field of art and opens the door to a new perception of creativity and sustainability. Prof. Datuk Dr. Md. Amin Md. Taff, Vice Chancellor of UPSI said that the exhibition featured outstanding works from various countries including Brunei, Japan, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Mauritius, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam.

The exhibition was not only a platform for expanding the local community’s artistic vision but also showed the diversity of culture and creativity in the ASEAN region. UPSI continues its role as a prestigious art learning centre by providing a platform to leading artists from various countries. With the strategic collaboration with AiAS, UPSI also strengthens its position as an educational institution that is concerned with the development of art and culture at the global level.

Meanwhile, the program gave recognition to the important role of art in raising public awareness of the beauty of nature and cultural diversity. It reflects the importance of fine art education in shaping the identity and creative thinking of society. By encouraging the cultivation of love for art and appreciation for creative expression, the exhibition not only has a positive impact on UPSI as a prestigious educational institution but also strengthens the creative philosophy among the community that increasingly appreciates uniqueness and beauty in art.
